2014.... Happy (belated) New Year

Happy New Year.....
2014......
A New Year, A New You.....

Cliché? Maybe so, but the start to a new year is a great time, to have a personal review. Many people begin a diet or commit to give up smoking. However sometimes I think people make resolutions a punishment. Rather than setting goals and looking forward to a great year, January is a month of people banning all of there favourite past times and feeling even more miserable than they did before Christmas.

I think, the New Year is still a great time to do all these things but with the horrible weather and empty bank accounts, we need to not be quite so hard on ourselves. You can still resolve to exercise more or drink less alcohol but instead of going cold turkey, be gentle on yourself.

If you want too shift those extra pounds, don't go straight to eating rabbit food and banning everything you love!On the other hand, why not buy yourself a new cookbook and try to create a healthier you? Or treat yourself to some new unusual fruit? Try new things.

Instead of banning all spending and saving every penny you have after your bills are paid, why don't you set yourself a small amount of pocket money each week? Or give yourself a treat at the end of each month, that you have successfully saved up?

This year, rather than banning all cakes and biscuits. I am instead setting myself goals to try to make better decisions, to drink more water eat my food more slowly and to really consider what I'm putting into my body. I still ultimately want to loose weight ans save money. But more importantly I want to enjoy my life see things in a better light and try to not be such a grump because I don't want to be at work. Eating one Oreo or buying Glamour Magazine once in a while wont hurt. but eating the whole packet and a weekly new outfit will!

The Point I'm trying to make is, rather than telling yourself, to stop doing things, you should instead be trying to achieve things. So you can still quit smoking. Instead making it hard on yourself, which could cause a relapses for any resolution, create goals and rewards and make 2014 a more positive year.

Appreciate the small things, about others and yourself! Don't go through everyday like a zombie, waiting for the weekend. On a Monday night when your knackered and still have another 4 days to work, don't sit in front of the telly, in your onesie, trying to not eat all the food in the house or down the wine in the fridge. Have a pamper night or visit a friend. Turn up your music while you are ironing or make walking the kids home from school into a game. Forget the Gym membership, buy a workout DVD to do with your friends.

We all need, to look after ourselves and make the new year a welcome sight. Enjoy family time and enjoy alone time. Reward yourself for working hard and achieving goals, no matter how big or small! New Year isn't a punishment for enjoying Christmas, no matter how much you ate and drank. Use this New Year to think about who you want to be.
Be Happy, Be Healthy and Be Positive.

Only you can change your life. You only get one, so make it a good one!

Lots of Love xxx
